{hello}

I am back.

I've been so busy with work, traveling for work, and working on projects for this, and well... life kind of got in the way of blogging for awhile. But now I'm back, and I want to share some of my projects with you!
First things first...this is my latest thrift store find.

Jealous?
Me too...it's for my mom! She had just told me that she'd love to find a cute secretary desk for her living room, and like 3 days later, I stumbled upon this.* Crazy, I know.

*Go ahead and tell me your inner most desires, and I'll see if I can summon my powers again and find it for you! Standard rates will apply ;)

Some pretty paint and accessories and this baby will be ready to go!

The other project I'm working on is my living/dining room.

Behold, the new sectional. We LOVE this couch! Seriously, Basset took good care of us and I couldn't be happier with the results!

Now I want to find a new chandelier for above my table. I'm thinking of a drum chandelier, specifically like one of the ones below....

via shades of light

I also want to paint the brown wall more of a gray color, cover my toile parsons chairs in a simple linen, and maybe take the chair railing down and put up some other molding.

Thoughts?

{weekend project}

I've been busy decorating my bedroom and I'm loving it! It's a slow process, but I'll share my progress as it happens!

I have a lot of jewelry that I used to hang on a cork board with push pins, but when I was decorating the hubs office, I decided to put the cork board in there, thus leaving my jewelry to sit in an orange bucket until I found another place for it.

I knew I wanted to hang my jewelry again (it's so much easier to see and pick from when it's displayed right in front of you) but I wasn't sure how I was going to do it...until I got my issue of Better Homes & Gardens and was totally inspired!
I made my own framed jewelry holder by painting an old, decorative frame with Krylon Bahama Sea spray paint. Then I picked up a sheet of clover leaf radiator grill from the Home Depot (you can find the link to different grill styles HERE). After cutting it out with my tin snips, I used push points (you can find in the framing section of the craft store) to hold the grill in place, and here is the result! I love it!

{garden seat}

Ceramic garden seats are all the rage these days. Need proof? Just look at the cover of the newest Ballard Design catalog!

I've been keeping my eye out for one ever since I spotted one at a local thrift store months ago that would have looked perfect in my bedroom. I was unsure of the motif painted on the sides and I hesitated buying it. Once I got home I realized I was crazy for passing up such a funky find, but when I went back to buy it, it was gone. 'Twas a sad, sad day.

Lucky for me, I spotted another garden seat in an unlikely spot. Big Lots. Yes, you read that right, I found me a garden seat at Big Lots! And for $20! It is the exact same size and style as the ones found in the Ballard Design catalog, but for $110 less! That, my friends is a bargain!
