{wanted: fun, sunny, vacation}

First of all, I am so sick of the snow! Spring where are you?
I am in major need of a getaway! The hubs and I are trying to plan our summer vacay, and I need your help. Remember our cruise last year? Well, we found such an amazing deal on that one, that we thought we'd look into cruising again, but after looking up flights to Miami, we realized that it was way to expensive! (And driving across the country is not an option!)
We've talked about San Fransisco, San Diego, & Seattle, (by the way, we are open to other destinations that don't start with "s"...we just happen to be interested in those places!) but I've never really "planned" a vacation, so to speak. I mean, really with a cruise, all you do is book it and ba-da-boom-ba-da-bam-ba-bam, you've got your room, meals, and entertainment all taken care of, *snap* just like that!

So, now that we're looking into a non-all inclusive trip, I have no clue about finding good hotels, funky restaurants, attractions, etc. (My Mom did all that nitty gritty on our trips- thanks Ma!)

Help a sista out, will ya?

If you know of any fun B&B's or any must see locations, let me know! Leave a comment with the name of a hotel or restaurant, or any fun getaway! Heck, for a little input I'll even throw in a li'l give away! How about a nice pair of carved shell earrings? Since we're talking vacations (maybe even somewhere tropical) I thought these were appropriate!

Just leave a comment with a li'l bit of advice, k? I'll draw a winner on Wednesday night.

Also, on a side note, type in "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" radio station on Pandora. I love me some 80's music, and this station is so boss!

Those earrings are gorgeous! I think that things like Tripplanner.com are a good place to start.

First off Seattle not so sunny (at least at the moment its snowing, hailing, then sunny and repeat such weird weather) My favorite vacation spot is Maui! I have used tripadvisor.com to read reviews on hotels and Kayak.com for hotels, car rentals and plane tickets it searches all other sites for you. Enjoy your vacation where ever you end up going.

I love virtualtourist.com once you decide on a destination you can plug it in and it will tell you all the top hotels ect. If your wanting to stay close to home California is always fun. Mexico is not to far away either!!!! good luck.

You guys should come to San Diego with us! We booked a 4-star hotel, flight, car, sea world, kayak tours and surf lessons for under a thousand.. for five days it isn't a bad deal. Good luck if you go to Seattle look at my blog for the ten best things to do there, and if you decide on San Fran I have ideas for you too.

Funny that your picks and the advise of others is my whole marriage!

(honeymoon- maui
1st anniversary- san fran
2nd- seattle
3rd-san diego)

Great minds think a like.

I'm thinking you should ditch the San Francisco and Seattle idea (NOT SUNNY!) and try Santa Barbara. I mean, it conveniently starts with an S and is also located along the Southern California shores. There are TONS of cute B&B's with great restaurants, shopping, and the beach! That's my two cents.

You should go to the Mall of America. they have an amusement park inside the mall! It is fun fun! and the mall would take days to cover! But I dont know how Andrew would feel about a long time in a mall... LOL! they also have a water park in the mall.
Just an idea. Or you could hit up New York and see all the historic spots.

I like the S cities too. I have always wanted to go to Seattle, I love San Diego and Scott and I are going to SF this summer. I have been before, but it has been about 5 years. Are you looking to stay close? There are some really cheap deals to Pisa right now. We are big fans of Italy. Somewhere else I always wanted to go is Sante Fe and I also like San Antonio. I guess S names are popular.
I'd love to have you come hang out and cook with me. I put the dates I could go on the comments of my blog. Do any of those work for you?

Although I can't help you toooo much, I have been to all of those places and I think Seattle is just the coolest City, it has such a different vibe than like LA of SF. Although it's not the sunniest of places, haha! SF is fun too though :) I haven't been to San Diego on a really, really long time...but I know people that live there. Yikes...big decisions!

All the places mentioned above are great ideas. Another location to consider is somewhere on the Oregon coast. We actually took a road trip up there a few years ago and drove down the coast over the period of a week. It ended up being the best road trip ever and it is beautiful! Have you ever considered Cancun? Sometimes you can find cheap, all inclusive vacations to places like that. Another alternative is NYC....my favorite city....you would love it girl.

So, a few deals I know about:
-My sis and her husband (Kristin) recently got tickets to HA from San Jose for only $120/ea way! WAY cheap. I think she used hotwire to find them. She also mentioned it was best to travel on Mon, Tue or Wed (that is when the deal is available).
-If you are still interested in a cruise: Some of the cruises leaving Long Beach, CA going down to Mexico on the pacific side can be WAY cheap. So you just drive to CA and hop on the cruise. I've seen great deals on 4 day cruises or all the way up to 9 day cruises. Just depends on what you want. I found those on hotwire. My sister, Kristin, also told me about this GREAT travel agency in Draper that has a website with some very reasonabley-priced cruises. www.funforlesstours.com Check it out. Some AMAZING deals, depending on when you want to go!

Ok had one more thought - You really should come to San Francisco, because I live 1 hour away and we could hang out! :) Plus, Wicked is there inevitably and you can get tickets as low as $30/person!!! (I know you have tickets for SLC, but from what I've heard, it's so great you'll want to see it again!) Plus, there are just great beaches (close to where I live), fun little beach towns for shopping (Capitola is way fun!), and you could go on a hike in the redwoods! Plus you could save on some lodging and stay at our place for a few days (if you want!)

I'm a huge fan of SF myself--you'll be amazed at the deals you can name in Priceline or the B &B finder. If you go there, I say definitely take a sail boat tour around the bay and bike the bridge--so much fun! And plan to spend some time on the other side--so cute, yummy restaurants and picture opps, not to mention the fun ferry ride back. You're making me want to go! (Although, I am a huge fan of San Diego as well--can't beat surfing and Sea World. I love it!) Have so much fun! As for Hawaii, Kauai is my definite fav--and there are great airline deals right now for Hawaii!

I love San Fran. When we've gone in the past we've always stay in Napa Valley and toured wine country (so beautiful) and then driven in to San Fran for the day.

Oh, and check out skyauction.com. You can bid on airfare, packages, cruises, etc.

I want those earings! So...uh...St George?!...alright so I'm cheap. I'm just sayin,' you can have a fun and cheap lil get-a-way even just 4 hours away. They have shopping, golfing for the hubs, hikes, swimming...(ok so that was obviously a desperate attempt at those earings). Have fun on whatever vacation you go to. If you find cheap deals/hints for planning trips, please share. :)

I would say Mexico, but with the craziness going on down there, I wouldnt recommend it at the moment.
We are going to Costa Rica this summer and seriously, the most expensive part is the tickets (and they really arent horribly bad) and once you get there you can get pretty decent hotels for like 80 bucks a night (and you can bargain it to be like 40ish). Plus there is Sun, beach, rainforest, zip-lining, everything you could ask for in a summer vacation :) Hope that helps!

Well My sister is going on a cruise that is leaving from california and she got it for 200 bucks! They are even going to make it cheaper by driving down first, but I know that southwest airlines has really good rates rigth now especially if you book early.

The Farmer and I have traveled alot and the best place for an all-inclusive vacation is in the Yucatan.....about an hour south of Cancun in the area around Playa del Carmen. You can do the entire week (includes all food and drinks) for less than any trip to San Diego or Seattle. That probably includes the airfare. If you book through Apple you get a chartered flight. I can tell you that the charter airlines was WAY better than any commercial airlines we've flown in the last ten years.

The people in the Yucatan are so friendly and there's so much to see and do.

umm... well you DO love Chicago!!!! ;-) LOL!!!! Those earrings are GORGEOUS!! I want them! LOL! So take your trip to Chicago--- stay outside the city and ride the train in. I'm sure it'd be cheaper than finding a hotel in the city!!!

I LOVE 80's music. One of these days we should go 80's dancing. Dress up and everything. :)
Also, a vacation sounds SO nice right now. I would recommend San Diego. It will be the perfect weather and there is so much to do! The beach, amusement parks..the possibilites are endless.

You could always do Carmel or Monterey for a weekend and do the B&B beach thing and then head to SF for the last part of the trip. Though really, any trip would be fun! :)

I loooved San Francisco when we went there 2 summers ago...but that was in June and it was still a bit chilly so if you're looking to lay on the beach and soak up the sun, I would say choose somewhere like Hawaii or Cancun. We went to Cancun on the sexymoon, it was awesome to see the ruins(sp?), lay on the beach and get fried, and snorkel! And it was cheap! Good luck...and those earrings are hot, I think I need them! :)
