Damask

I LOVE damask prints! If I would have found a great damask print, I would have used it for my wing back chair I'm upholstering, but I settled for a green tweed. (My plan is to accent with black and white damask pillows). When Andrew and I got married, he brought a little, plain, brown, wood ottoman with him to our apartment. Right now, it sits in the corner of my living room and holds blankets. I stumbled upon this picture on the Internet and knew exactly what I wanted to do to the ottoman!
I LOVE this print! All I need now is some foam, batting, trim, and fabric! Below is a picture of the current ottoman...not so lovely! I'm hoping to find some fabulous fabric soon and when I finish, I'll post my results!

Grow old along with me, the best is yet to be...

I've been in Austin, Texas this week for work, and I'm finally flying home tomorrow! As much as I've enjoyed spending my time in meetings (rolls eyes), I'm so ready to go home. The entire time I've been here, I have thought of Andrew and since I am a newly wed, I have retold the story of how we met a million times! So, for everyone who's interested, here is how it all happened....
Last June I was forced to attend a multi-singles ward BBQ. Now, when I say forced, I really didn't want to go, but my wise mom thought it would be a fun time. I tried explaining that most of the single guys in our ward were what most would call the "freaks and geeks" crowd, but I went anyway, taking my friend Kaylene along for the ride! When we arrived, the first guy I saw was Andrew and I thought, "Whoa baby!" What was supposed to be a quick drop in, ended up being a 2 hour event! It wasn't until the end of the night, after much eye contact, that I approached him and said, "So...what ward are you in?" (great pick up line eh?) After talking with him and his friends for awhile, I learned that we went to the same high school. I figured that he was older, since he didn't look familiar, so when I asked what year he graduated, and found out he was my little brother's age (2 years younger than me), I lost all interest. Disappointed, I hesitantly gave him my number when he asked for it, and we left. When I got home that night, my mom asked if I met anyone, and I told her the only cute guy there was younger than me. She said, "Oh Shan! Don't let that bother you!"

Well, Andrew didn't call me...he text me that night asking if I wanted to hang out. I told him I had to clean my car. For the next 2 weeks, he persistently sent me texts, asking if I wanted to hang out, and I persistently turned him down. Finally on the 4th of July, he sent me a text, and because I was sick of texting and boys asking to "hang out" I called him and told him just that. I believe my exact words were, "Hey. I'm not a big texter, and if you want to get to know me, ask me on a date!" I really thought this would scare him off, but he quickly said, "Sounds great! How about Thursday?"

So, to make a long story short, we went out that Thursday, had a ton in common, sparks flew and I've been with him every day since! We got married July 27 of this year, and life has never been better! So thank you Mom, for making me go to the BBQ, and thank you Andrew for being persistent!

So much fun!

This weekend Andrew and I went to the Alta vs. Jordan football game, and Alta won (of course)! Steve and his friend Tyler drove up from Provo and joined us! It was so fun to hang out with my boys! It was a great game, although the wind was terrible! We made the most of it and took some fun pictures!

I'm leaving for Austin, Texas tomorrow for a work trip, so I won't be able to blog for awhile! When I get back, I'll have updates on my chair and much more! Love ya!

Our "babies"

Many of you have requested more photos of KiKi and Pumba, so here you go! Kiki is our little girl, who is very sweet and usually pretty shy & quiet. When she's feeling especially lovey, she does her "baby cries" until you pick her up and cuddle her. She loves playing with Pumba and sleeping on top of the pillows in our second bedroom. Pumba is our little manly man! He absolutely loves his mousie toys, flinging and swatting them around, and he regularly sends us on "mousie hunts" when we realize he's hidden all of his mousies! He also plays fetch! Yes, Barry, Bitty wasn't the only cat to fetch! When we throw his toys, he runs to them, grabs them in his mouth, and brings them back to us, dropping the toy in front of us, waiting for us to throw it again! He is the funniest kitten! Pumba is also our "talker". Whenever I leave the room he is in, he runs after me, crying as if to ask where I'm going. He also greets us when we get home with a few meows. Some of Pumba's favorite things to do are climb the linen closet shelves, beg for food, and cuddle with Andrew. They are such sweet babies and they are always making us smile!

Ta-da! I have a blog!

Hello everyone! I'm so excited about this blog and even more excited to share fun ideas, designs, and my life with you! I figured since almost everyone I know has a blog, I'd better join too! What a great way to keep in touch, don't you think?! Here's an update on me- I married the love of my life, Andrew Crawford on July 27, 2007! It was the BEST day of my life so far, and I must toot my own horn by saying it was the most beautiful wedding ever- thanks to my family and friends that helped! When I can, I'll post some pictures! Andrew and I spent our honeymoon on a cruise to Catalina Island and Ensenada Mexico. We're currently living in Salt Lake City in an apartment we share with our two kitties, Pumba and Kiki! They're the sweetest cats ever, always purring and "talking" to us! Andrew is currently working during the day for a roofing company and going to school at night. I decided to take an upholstery class Thursday nights while Andrew is at school, and I LOVE it! I've taken upholstery classes before, and there is nothing better than taking something old and ratty, and making it new again! Below is a picture of my "naked" chair- I forgot to take a picture of it with the awful, orange mohair, but I'll keep you posted on my progress!
